While the daytime temperatures weren’t on the freezing side, the rain that fell early in the week turned into ice and hung around for a few days. It was very easy for anyone to take a spill when extreme caution wasn’t observed.
The warming temperatures also found their way to Mount Washington at 7 a.m. Sunday. At that hour it was 40.7 degrees in Claremont and it was 40.8 at the 1,600-foot level at Mount Washington. At the Observatory at 6,288 feet there was even a warm 20.9 reading.
The weekend saw snow melting off roofs with the warm afternoon temperatures and ice melting from walkways and driveways.
