LONDONDERRY — Former and current town moderators from Londonderry, Winhall, Weston and several other nearby towns will be featured in a series of eight interviews on GNAT-TV, the Northshire’s community media center.
The idea sprouted in 2012 after GNAT Executive Director Tammie Reilly attended town meetings.
“I was inspired by the work of the moderators, they are volunteers wholly responsible for ensuring the democratic process. I was impressed at the professionalism, calm and ability to keep it all going,” she said in a press release. “The interviews are a way for us to explore ‘Town Meeting in Vermont,’ to capture the spirit of the moderators and to appreciate the work that they do at town meeting.”
Participants also include moderators from Arlington, Sandgate, Sunderland, and Dorset. The series also includes an interview with former Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas, who is the town moderator for Middlebury.
GNAT hopes to continue interviewing public servants. Anyone interested in participating as an interviewee or nominating someone to be interviewed should email [email protected] or call (802) 362-7070.
“The Moderators” airs daily at 6:30 p.m. on GNAT channels 15 and 8 through March. All GNAT programs may also be viewed online atwww.gnat.tv.
