Winter Carnival will have something for everyone

CHESTER — The community is invited to the 2018 Chester Winter Carnival, which this year will include sledding, a skate party, pie-tasting, a tiki-torch snowshoe hike, broom hockey, and many more activities for all ages.

The Chester Recreation Department will host the Chester Winter Carnival from Friday, Feb. 16 to Sunday, Feb. 18 at various locations.

On Friday, families can attend the CAES Dinner and a Movie event for kids, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This event is free.

On Saturday, Feb. 17, activites begin at 11 a.m. with Sledding at the Pinnacle. From noon to 4 p.m., the Southern Pie Company will present a Pie Tasting at 287 Main St. Cost will be $5 per plate. All proceeds from the pie tasting will be donated to the Chester Recreation Department, according to Chester Recreation Director Matthew McCarthy.

Face-painting will also take place at the Southern Pie Co. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Also from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., horse sleigh rides with Smokeshire Farm will be available at the Pinnacle.

Food and drinks will be available for sale during the day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pinnacle.

On Saturday evening, activities will continue. From 6 to 8 p.m., the Chester Conservation Committee will host a self-guided Tiki Torch Snowshoe Hike around the disc golf course at the Pinnacle. Snowshoes will be available for participants to borrow for this event.

Also that evening, from 6 to 8 p.m., all are welcome to a bonfire with music and a Skating Party from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Pinnacle.

Southern Pie Co. will have coffee, hot chocolate and pieces of pie for sale from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pinnacle.

On Sunday, Feb. 18, broom hockey enthusiasts can come out to watch a Broom Hockey Tournament from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pinnacle. Registration, at $25 per team, is required.
