Library hosts student art reception and ‘Blind Date’ book event

BONDVILLE — Throughout the month of February, student artwork from The Mountain School at Winhall (MSW) will be on display at the Winhall Memorial Library. The show honors and celebrates Black History Month.

The artwork is inspired by the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Students share messages of hopes and dreams and celebrate diversity through their artwork and collaborations. All are welcome from 3:35 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15for an artist reception.

A February Book Discussion will also take place later this month at the Winhall Memorial Library. The discussion is planned for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27 for “We were the Lucky Ones” by Georgia Hunter.

This is an informal group; all that is needed is a love of books. Books are available at the library.

The library is also holding a “Blind Date with a Book” event to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Books are wrapped up in colorful wrapping paper, waiting to be checked out. Library patrons can visit the library, select their book “date,” check it out, and then unwrap it to discover the title.

“Going out on a blind date is a lot like opening a new book, you never know what kind of experience you’re going to have! … Hopefully it’s love at first sight! If you don’t like the book, simply return it to the library. Its feelings will not be hurt,” library staff said in a press release.

The Winhall Memorial Library is located at 2 Lower Taylor Hill Road, Bondville. For any questions, email [email protected] or call (802) 297-9741, or visit www.winhallmemoriallibrary.org.
