SPRINGFIELD — Southern Vermont Area Health Education Center (SVAHEC), based in Springfield, has announced that applications are open for the 2018 MedQuest programs.
This program is for southern Vermont high school students currently in grades 10, 11 and 12 who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. Students will explore a variety of healthcare careers through job shadowing, workshops and career exploration. With the help of volunteer professionals in the hospital and medical community, students see health care in action and get an insider’s look at rewarding career opportunities. Students will also receive CPR certification as part of the program. Students can experience campus life in the company of new friends and graduate-level health professions students that serve as staff.
Interested students in grades 10, 11, and 12 must submit an application and two references. Application information is available atwww.svtahec.org. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 2.
This is a competitive application process. The cost for the program is $500, and scholarships are available. For information, contact Joan Devine at (802) 885-2126.
SVAHEC is a nonprofit organization with a volunteer board of directors from Bennington, Rutland, Windham, and Windsor counties. The organization works in partnership with the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont.
