CHESTER — The voters of Andover, Baltimore, Cavendish and Chester are invited to the Green Mountain Union High School (GMUHS) auditorium at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27 for the Green Mountain Unified School District (GMUSD)’s annual meeting.
“I would encourage voters to come out and learn about our schools,” said Two Rivers Supervisory Union Superintendent Meg Powden. “We’d like to have their support so that we can continue to provide educational excellence.”
The newly-formed GMUSD comprises Cavendish Town Elementary School, Chester-Andover Elementary School, and GMUHS.
Powden said booklets are available at each town’s office explaining the budget. The school system’s $12,547,513 budget will be decided by Australian ballot on Tuesday, March 6.
According to the warning, this amounts to $15,659.09 per equalized pupil.
“There are several articles to be addressed at the annual meeting,” Powden said. “We’ll be setting the honorariums for the school board members, treasurer and clerk, and permitting the board to borrow money as needed.”
One thing voters won’t be able to do at the annual meeting os to change or amend the budget.
“The budget is already on the ballot,” Powden said. “The board has already adopted it.”
Voting will take place in the Cavendish elementary school, and the town halls in Chester, Andover, and Baltimore.
Voting takes place on March 6. Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Andover; from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Baltimore and Cavendish; and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Chester.
