Amplified Arts and The Performer’s Playground were nominated for four New Hampshire Theatre Awards recently for their production of Hamlet from spring 2017.
David Stark ended up taking home the top prize for Best Actor in a Youth Production. David won the award for his turn as Hamlet in Hamlet.
There were nine other nominees in this category. David is the second actor from the Performer’s Playground to be nominated for a New Hampshire Theatre Award, but the first to take home the top honor.
David could not attend the event due to college auditions in New York City. He thanked his parents, Michele Caccaavro and the cast of Hamlet for their support. He also thanked show director, Shelly Hudson, for her coaching and encouragement.
Hudson was a finalist in the top three within the Best Director of a Community Drama/Comedy category. The overall production was nominated for Best Youth Production and Matt Hennig was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Youth Production for his turn as Laertes in Hamlet.
Theater-goers can catch David in the upcoming production of Footloose produced by North Country Community Theatre in March. Also this spring, Amplified Arts will be producing The Laramie Project in partnership with Rural Outright, a program of TLC. Email [email protected] for more information.
The New Hampshire Theatre Awards is a non-profit organization dedicated to highlighting excellence in the New Hampshire theatrical arts community.
The participants are New Hampshire based, qualifying professional, and community-based theatre companies. All the companies are part of a peer adjudication process that requires each company to see and critique shows from around the state.
Based on scores from those peer adjudicators, companies are honored at the annual New Hampshire Theatre Awards event.
