Local Roundup; Mt. Royal roughed up

It wasn’t a good day for both the Mount Royal boys and girls basketball teams on Friday. The girls lost to Farmington 57-28, while the boys were topped 54-42. There were just three scorers for the lady Knights with Alexis Matte dropping 18 points in the loss. Sophie LaRose was held to just eight points and Jacinta Hogan had just two. Despite the loss for the girls, they sit in a good position for the playoffs.

In the night cap, the boys were limited as well including their big scorers. Andrew Normandin was held to just 13 points on the night as was Kolbe Bocko. One of the positives to take away from the game is Mount Royal shooting 65% from the free throw line.

Zoe Utton had 13 points for Fall Mountain while Zoey Luopa had 9. Fall Mountain ends the regular season at 12-6. It is likely that Fall Mountain will be the 8 seed and play at home next Thursday.

Green Mountain got off to a slow start trailing 25-13 at the half. Green Mountain clawed back to take the lead with 4 minutes in the fourth quarter. It was all Leland and Grey down the stretch. Green Mountain was led by Ryan McSally.

Bellows Falls started the second half fired up and continued to play great defense and better offense. Holding Springfield to 7 points and scoring 18. “We played intense tonight and I hope it continues,” said head coach Ryan Stoodley. Ryan Kelly scored 26 and Shane Clark scored 11.
