WINDSOR – Seth Balch outscored Newport in the second quarter 15-11 as Windsor improved to 14-2 with a matinee win over the Tigers 78-54. The visitors ran off the first five points and led 10-4 as Cameron Gillespie and Kyle Fish opened the scoring on Saturday but the high powered Windsor offense shifted gears and poured in 23 straight points and took a 45-21 lead into halftime. Twelve different Windsor players scored as Balch was aided by Duncan Frazer’s 12 points as the only two Yellow Jackets scoring double digit points.
Newport head coach Ethan Jean had fewer players at his disposal than usual while Windsor’s coach Harry Ladue rotated players in bunches all day. Windsor used their full court press sparingly as action was fast paced from start to finish. The Tigers Gillespie logged an entire game while netting 25 points Saturday and Fish lit it up from deep with five three pointers to finish his day with 19 points. Windsor outscored Newport 18-13 in the third quarter but were outscored 19-13 to close out the day. Windsor’s Dan Cardillo and Tyler Wright did the heavy lifting for Windsor in the final half as they both ended up with solid games today while Dakota Sanderson dropped in a bucket of his own late in the game.
Following Balch and Frazer for Windsor were Cardillo with seven points, Ben Meagher scored six and Hunter Grela chipped in with five points. Ryland Richardson, Dakihta Sanderson and Adam Stapleton all had four points each while Robert Slocum, Tate Hurd, Dakota Page each added a bucket of their own.
Newport scorers today included Ethan Houde with four points, Tony Robertson with three points and Keegan Osgood with two points.
Newport will travel to Inter-Lakes on Tuesday and host Conant on Friday to close out their season. Windsor will travel to Woodstock on Tuesday and host a tough MSJ team on Friday.
Windsor shot 9 for 14 from the line today while Newport was perfect hitting 4 for 4.
