NEW LONDON — Colby-Sawyer senior Emmani Robinson (Newburgh, N.Y.), sophomore Lexie Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) and sophomore Tianna Sugars (Oxford, Maine) have been named to the 2017-18 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women’s Basketball Second Team.
Colby-Sawyer had the most players recognized from any team of the 10 All-NAC honorees (first team and second team). Robinson also represented Colby-Sawyer on the All-NAC Sportsmanship Team.
Hamilton earned her second-straight nod to the All-NAC Second Team. She is second on the Chargers with 13.2 points per game and leads the team and conference in assists with an impressive 171. Her assists total is second most in the nation and her 6.8 assists per game ranks third.
Earlier this season, on Feb. 3, Hamilton handed out 14 assists against Husson to tie for third most in a game in Division III this season. She currently ranks eighth in Colby-Sawyer history for career assists with 329.
On Jan. 15, in a win over Plymouth State, Hamilton posted 18 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds to become one of only 25 players in the nation this season to record a triple-double. She also ranks third on the team with 5.3 rebounds per contest and is second on the team and third in the NAC with 59 steals.
Hamilton has earned a NAC Player of the Week award and been named to the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll this season.
Robinson, a one-time NAC Player of the Week this season, is third on the team with 12.0 points per game and is second on the team and third in the NAC with 9.1 rebounds per game.
She leads Colby-Sawyer and the NAC with a 54.6 field goal percentage, which also ranks her 27th in the nation. The senior has recorded nine double-doubles and had the program’s first triple-double in a win over Thomas on Jan. 6. She registered 17 points, 14 rebounds and 10 steals in the game.
The 10 steals tied a Colby-Sawyer single-game record and is tied for 11th most in a game in Division III this season. Robinson also is the team and conference leader in steals with 75. She ranks 44th in the nation in that category.
Sugars leads the Chargers with 14.0 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. She ranks second in the NAC in rebounding, fourth in field goal percentage (48.2 percent) and sixth in scoring. Sugars also has a team best 37 blocks.
The sophomore forward has registered a team best 12 double-doubles this season to rank 40th in the nation in that category. She recorded a career-high 22 points in the team’s second game of the season on Nov. 18 in a win at Bridgewater State. On Jan. 6, Sugars grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds in a win over Thomas College.
Sugars has been able to help the team late in games to pull out a couple of comeback victories on the road. On Jan. 12, she converted a pair of free throws with 11.4 seconds complete a Colby-Sawyer comeback and defeat Husson, 54-53. She then made a layup off a feed from Hamilton with 2.9 seconds left to finish a rally and earn a 48-46 at Castleton. Throughout the season, Sugars earned three NEWBA Honor Roll accolades and a pair of NAC Player of the Week awards.
The Chargers (20-5, 15-3) earned the No. 2 seed in the NAC Tournament and will play third seed Husson on Friday at 8 p.m. in a semifinal game held at tournament host and top seed Castleton.
