The Stevens Cardinals girls basketball team suffered defeat on Thursday night in the opening game of the NHIAA division three tournament by a score of 53-25 at the ands of number two seeded Gilford. The Cardinals season ends on the inconsistent note its had for much of the season. Alexis Ford led all Stevens scorers with just eight points. The Cardinals finished the overall season including Thursday’s game with a 6 and 13 record. The sliver lining for Stevens will be moving forward with a young group who certainly gained fine experience this season. Hats off to Stevens on a good season and better luck next season!
Bellows Falls bounces back
The Bellows Falls girls basketball team picked up a nice bounce back win on Thursday again Twin Valley, 79-23. This improves their record to 16-4. Hailey Dickerson netted 17 points for the girls while teammate Taylor Goodell contributed with 13. “It was good to rebound from a tough loss at harford before going into the playoffs,” said head coach Todd Wells. Bellows Falls is not sure who their opponent will be yet but will have a home playoff game next Wednesday for the first time in several years. Bellows Falls recognized their only senior, Maddisin DiBernardo.
Newport girls knocked out of Tournament
The Newport Tigers girls basketball team were eliminated from the division three tournament on Thursday night suffering defeat against Conant, 45-40. Newport finishes their overall season at 10 and 9.
