Naturalist Series continues

UNITY — In January 2017, Sullivan County kicked off its Naturalist Series program. This series helps people to become better naturalists and land stewards as they learn about the ecology and natural history of the Upper Valley.

Participants learn through hands-on workshops and field courses throughout the year taught by Natural Resources and Conservation District staff and local experts.

The 2017 Series included programs on geology, spring wildflowers, ferns, butterflies and astronomy. There was so much interest in these programs that they are continuing it this year.

The 2018 Naturalist Series topics include Winter Tree ID, Mushrooms, Salamanders, Raising Butterflies, and Forest Ecology. All programs meet at the Ahern Building at the Sullivan County Complex on County Farm Road in Unity, RSVP as space is limited.

Sullivan County has other community programs focused on agriculture and place-based education as well. Check them out at https://sullivancountynh.wixsite.com/educationandoutreach/programs
