The Fall Mountain girls Nordic ski team had a successful day at the DIII Cross Country Ski Championhips at Great Glen Trails in Gorham, NH on Tuesday. The Fall Mountain girls battled with powerhouse team Kearsarge (one of the top 2 teams in the state, all divisions combined) and came up as runners-up in the state for their division. Ellen Beck, Chelsey Patch, Zoe Mitchell, Katie Nelson and Sage Stark all scored top 10 finishes, qualifying them for the meet of champions next Tuesday at Proctor Academy. Seniors Gieselle Dierks and Danielle Scott also had strong performances.
On her team’s performance Tuesday, coach Kate Northcott said, “Our team has improved immensely throughout the season, trained very hard and become a tightly meshed group of athletes. I am very proud of their accomplishments.”
George Gowdy had strong races for the boys at Fall Mountain, placing 8th and 3rd respectfully in the classic and skate races. The boys finished in fourth place, with Kearsarge coming in first place.
