Bolshoi Ballet

BELLOWS FALLS — On Sunday, March 11, don’t miss Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Young Pope, Sherlock Holmes, Sleuth) in the stage production of Obsession, filmed live in London’s Barbicon Theatre.

Due to the upcoming production needs of Main Street Arts’ production of Jesus Christ Superstar, there will only be one RAMParts event at the Bellows Falls Opera House in March.

Robert McBride, Director of the Rockingham Arts & Museum Project, is expanding arts programming locally by making Bellows Falls an “affordable cultural destination, removing the cost barrier to create unique, spectacular art, dance and theatre offerings.”

Tickets are $20 per person and available at the door, cash/credit. Special online ticket purchase deal; buy one ticket online, get another at no cost. Claudia Schmidt

Performs in Putney

PUTNEY —Next Stage Arts Project will present Claudia Schmidt in a special CD release concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10.

Schmidt is a powerful vocalist and adventurous artist who combines lively folk, jazz and blues with rich poetry and playful humor. Hailing from Michigan, she knew at a young age that she was destined to be a singer. Performing in numerous choirs throughout her youth, Claudia soon pursued a professional career while in Chicago, leading her to Wisconsin and Minnesota, where she was a frequent guest on the early days of A Prairie Home Companion. More than 30 years and 22 albums later, she continues to perform on the road to her loyal legions of fans across the country, mixing folk, jazz, traditional ballads and breathtaking originals.

This Next Stage show will mark the release of “Hark the Dark,” Schmidt’s 22nd recording in a career spanning almost 45 years of composing and performing.

Next Stage is located at 15 Kimball Hill and features a newly-renovated, accessible performance space.

MSA presents

‘JC Superstar’

SAXTONS RIVER —A cast of more than 60 has been assembled for the Main Street Arts production of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” set to open at the Bellows Falls Opera House Thursday, March 29 for a two-week run.

“Tremendous talent showed up at the auditions for this show, and we are super excited about the caliber of these cast members,” said David Stern, the show’s director and artistic director at MSA. “We have some exceptional performers in this group.”

Among them are William Sawyer and Sean Roberts, who will alternate the role of Jesus. Andrew Flaherty and Louis Vitale are playing Judas, and Allie McGahie and Hannah Hoffman are Mary.

Other cast members include Gavy Kessler (Pilate), Neal Cronce (Caiaphas), Libby McCawley (Annas), Ron Bos-Lun and Lynn Stanford (Priests), Dom DiBenedetto (Peter), Morganna Ekkens (Simon) and Henry O’Connell (Herod). A dozen apostles and an ensemble of templegoers and crowd members make up the rest. Ken Olsson is musical director and Annesa Hartman is choreographer.

The rock opera, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, was called “one of the 10 best musicals of all time” by Rolling Stone magazine. It has continued to wow audiences for 40 years as it tells the story of the last four days of the life of Jesus through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.
