SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Community Band is seeking an announcer and new members for its summer concert series.
The Springfield Community Band is a 35-40 piece concert band which presents a series of 8-10 concerts throughout the summer. The band’s Springfield location is the Hartness House, where the band presents a weekly concert beginning in late June each Tuesday evening.
The band is looking for a community volunteer with some speaking or announcing experience and a warm and friendly personality to introduce programs and individual pieces. A script is furnished, but gentle banter with the audience, and fill material when needed, would be welcome.
Musicians who are playing at this time, or who have had band experience in the past (even the distant past) and want to return to playing, are encouraged to consider joining. Band members and announcer are volunteer positions. No auditions are required.
Rehearsals will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday evenings beginning April 8 in the Riverside Middle School auditorium on Fairground Road in Springfield.
