SPRINGFIELD — Artist and teacher Robert Carsten will present a pastels workshop on painting the transition of the seasons. The workshop is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at Gallery at the VAULT.
This time of year makes for strong designs and an emotive subject, especially when coupled with moody skies. Colors are earthy, with surprise accents and underlying warmth. Workshop participants can use “broken color” impressionistic techniques to create stunning late-winter effects, all according to a press release.
The workshop will include a demonstration, painting time and a critique with discussion at the end of the session.
Cost is $75 members and $80 for non-members. A materials list will be provided at registration. All levels are welcome. Participants should bring reference photos.
