BROWNSVILLE — The West Windsor Fire Department’s 60 years of service will be celebrated at the Brownsville Independence Day Celebration 2018, set to take place on July 3 and 4.
When they are not putting out fires and saving lives, members of the WWFD are hanging lights on the town Christmas trees, delivering Santa in a fire engine to a town-wide carol sing, or helping to keep safe the two-day Independence Day celebrations in town.
The dedicated group will be celebrated this summer, as they shine up the fire engines and parade them proudly down Brownsville Hartland Road on the Fourth of July 2018 to celebrate the Fire Department’s 6oth year of answering the call.
The Brownsville Independence Day Celebration Committee has evolved and grown, and learned from past leaders with great appreciation, according to a press release from event organizers. Representatives from many organizations and groups in town were invited to a feasibility meeting last August. The group of approximately 20 volunteers explored what they thought the town might hope for regarding the 2018 Independence Day activities and what the realistic volunteer community involvement might be.
The end result is a group willing to recruit volunteers and lead. The Brownsville IDC Committee consists of four main committees and multiple sub-committees. In all, this sizeable group has committed to create a memorable Independence Day celebration in Brownsville for residents and visitors. They need help from local residents, however.
The IDC Committee recently announced the launch of the Independence Day Celebration Facebook and GoFundMe pages, at www.facebook.com/IndependenceDayBrownsville/ and www.gofundme.com/july-3rd-4th-celebration, respectively.
The Go Fund Me page, which has a goal of $10,000, has raised $1,740 as of the beginning of March, and is still open for donations.
Checks made payable to the Brownsville IDC can be sent to Brownsville Independence Day Celebration, P.O. Box 37, Brownsville, VT 05037.
The committee members have expressed thanks in advance for any donation, and said they look forward to honoring the volunteer fire department and to seeing visitors in Brownsville on July 3 and 4.
