LEBANON — Two players from Stevens and one from Fall Mountain have been selected top play for New Hampshire in the 65th Annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Aug. 4 at Castleton, Vt.
They are Stevens linemen Aidan Cahill, a 6-foot, 225-pound offensive lineman who wants to study Biochemistry in college, and Nick Stone, a 5-11, 264-pound offensive lineman who wants to major in Criminal Justice in college. Fall Mountain linebacker Chris Bashaw, 5-7 and 200 pounds from Charlestown is also on the team.
The Vermont team includes four Windsor players and three from Bellows Falls.
Windsor players selected ate Seth Balch, a 6-2, 170-pound defensive back and quarterback from Hartland who is undecided about college and Windsor residents Ben Meagher, 6-2, 200, defensive end and outside linebacker; Dakota Page, 5-11, 160, defensive back and wide receiver heading to Saint Michaels College and Jake Tucker, 5-11, 175 pound linebacker and running back.
From Bellows Falls, the Vermont team will have Shane Clark, 6-1, 185 pound defensive back and running back who wants to study Business Management in college; Logan Cota, 6-1, 200 defensive back and wide receiver listed as Bellows Falls Union/Vermont Academy; and Jared Zobkiw, 6-foot 259-pound defensive tackle and outside linebacker who plans to study in the Environmental Science field.
There are 36 players on each roster. More than 200 players from New Hampshire and Vermont, all graduating high school seniors, were nominated by their head coaches. In each state, “screening committee,” chaired by the Shrine head coaches, selected the two teams.
The New Hampshire team will be coached by Patrick Riberdy, head coach at Winnisquam Regional High School while Vermont will be coached by Greg Balch, head coach at Windsor High School.

Shrine team and 18 on the Vermont team. The two teams will meet with their respective coaches at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 11, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon to review game plans. Formal practice will begin on Sunday, July 29 for both teams at Castleton University.
The summer classic is scheduled to be played on Saturday, Aug. 4 on Spartan Field at Castleton University, Castleton, Vt., at 5:30 p.m.
The Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl game is played for the benefit of the Shriner’s Hospitals for Crippled and Burned Children and in it first 64 years raised nearly $5 million.
The Bowl Game ids one of 30 Shrine games played every year across the country. Twin State game is sponsored by the two Shrine Centers of Vermont, Cairo (Rutland) and Mt. Sinai (Montpelier).
