CONCORD — On Wednesday, Feb. 28, the Lake Sunapee Public Boat Access Development Commission released its report regarding the Wild Goose state property and a potential deep-water launch for public boat access on Lake Sunapee.
The commission found that the Wild Goose location should be removed from consideration due to inadequately meeting the needs of a public deep-water boat launch. Senator Ruth Ward (R-Stoddard) issued the following statement:
“After 27 years of debating the feasibility of developing the Wild Goose state property into a deep water launch for public boats I hope we can finally put this idea to rest,” said Senator Ward, a member of the commission.
“As a member of my towns planning board I can see numerous reasons why this is a poor location for the boat launch with safety being the number one concern. It is already dangerous to travel on the narrow and busy road without boat trailers constantly pulling in and out of the property.
“While this location is not the right place to build the boat launch I will continue to work with members of the community to make sure we find a suitable location to make sure Granite Staters have access to Lake Sunapee,” Ward added.
