MANCHESTER — Eversource says it has substantially completed its restoration effort in New Hampshire following the nor’easter that started on Wednesday, restoring power to more than 100,000 customers impacted by the heavy snowstorm.
The energy company said in a prepared statement will continue to have line, tree and service crews working to restore power to customers without power in the state.
Some Eversource crews will begin assisting other utilities in the state, as well as sister companies in Massachusetts and Connecticut, as they work to restore power to their customers, the company said Friday.
“Our active planning in advance of this storm and the investments we have made in tree trimming and upgrades to modernize and strengthen the electric system played an important role in reducing the number of customers affected by power outages, as well as the duration of outages following this storm,” said Joe Purington, vice president of Eversource electric operations for New Hampshire.
“With our customers successfully restored, we will continue to monitor the electric system and respond to any additional outages,” Puringtin said in the statement.
More than 25,000 Eversource customers in New Hampshire were without power at the height of the storm on Wednesday morning. Heavy, wet snow weighed down branches and limbs that interfered with power equipment and crews worked to repair 23 broken poles.
As part of its active efforts to address any threats to the electric system following the storm, Eversource is conducting helicopter inspections of its transmission system in the southeastern part of the state, which experienced the greatest impacts resulting from the nor’easter.
These aerial inspections will enable the energy company to spot any problem areas before the line is further damaged and prevent additional outages in future storms, according to the company.
Eversource will continue to monitor the electric system and is ready to respond to any new outages.
“We appreciate that it is challenging for our customers to be without power and are grateful for their patience throughout this restoration effort,” Purington said.
The company asks customers to stay away from downed lines and report them immediately to 9-1-1. Eversource customers should report any power outages online at Eversource.com or by calling (800) 662-7764.
