PETERBOROUGH — Firelight Theatre Workshop’s inaugural season will open in downtown Peterborough on March 29 with “Skylight,” Sir David Hare’s Tony and Olivier award-winning play.
Hare is an English playwright, screenwriter (“The Hours”) and theatre and film director.
“Skylight” features co-founders Nora Fiffer and Jason Lambert as former lovers Kyra Hollis and Tom Sergeant who — over the course of one winter night — review, navigate and wonder at their past, present, and future.
At turns humorous, romantic and sad, this play is arguably Hare’s most compelling claim to the state of the human heart and world.
A unique feature of the Firelight season is the pay-what-you-can first Friday performance for each of the season’s three productions.
Productions on Thursday, Friday and Saturday are scheduled at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. The company will perform on the second floor of the Guernsey Building, 70 Main St..
In keeping with the company’s mission to present great plays at fair prices, single tickets to “Firelight” performances are $20 for nonstudents and $15 for students. They are on sale, along with $50 season subscriptions, at www.firelighttheatreworkshop.com. The play is scheduled to run through April 22.
Lambert is a Greenville native and teaches English at ConVal High School.
In 2016, Fiffer moved to Peterborough from Chicago and teaches adult acting classes in Peterborough.
