LAC EXHIBIT

The Library Arts Center in Newport is pleased to present an invitational and juried exhibit featuring artwork from artists around New England, in all mediums made in black, white and gray. Painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, mixed media, etc. are all represented. The wide array of mediums, styles, themes and artists are connected in the gallery by black and white. The show runs through April 7. Admission is free. SOCIAL DANCE

Come to our monthly social dance, 7-9 p.m. at Whipple Hall, New London, enjoy an evening of music, socializing and dance, free lessons, 7-7:30 p.m., dance begins at 7:30 p.m., all levels of experience welcome, $10 admission at the door.

 

RETIREMENT RECEPTION

Cynthia Anderson, 35-year veteran Town Clerk for Town of Springfield, and numerous other positions and committees throughout her tenure, from 1-4 p.m. at the Meeting House on Four Corners Road, light refreshments will be served. Please come and wish Cynthia well with her “retirement” and bring a story to share.

MEET THE AUTHOR

A biography entitled, “Richard Potter: America’s First Black Celebrity,” written by Andover scholar John A. Hodgson, will be the focus of a “meet the author” event to be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, in the Stone Chapel on the Village Green in Andover, N.H. The event is open to the public at no charge. Refreshments will be offered.

 

CORNED BEEF AND CABBAGE

Serving 5-7 p.m., Friendship House of the South Newbury Union Church, corned beef and cabbage and homemade Irish soda bread, green cake for dessert, kids under 5 are free, we are handicap accessible and take out are available.

RIVER VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Free Ice Cream Social, 4-7 p.m., all high school students and parents welcome, advisors, admissions, financial aid, faculty and staff on hand to answer questions.

Maple and Mud dinner at Camp Morgan Lodge with seatings at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., sponsored by the Washington Congregational Church. Menu includes maple-glazed pork loin, roasted veggies, herb rice, applesauce, salad bar and brownie delight, adults, $8, under 12, $4, under 4, free, family $20. You’re not invited to join us. First time you’ve been “Not invited” to a charitable event? On March 30 we’re inviting you to stay home or spend time with neighbors and friends while raising money for one of our community’s most popular organizations. For a donation of $75, we will deliver to your home a gift bag of wine, cheese, sausage and more. Each gift bag serves two people. All proceeds stay right here in our nine Kearsarge area communities, serving seniors through our Chapin Senior Center. Deliveries will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on March 30.
