CROYDON — A move to restore a full-time teaching position to the 2018 Croydon school budget at Saturday’s annual meeting failed.
The amendment to add $59,000 to the budget to cover salary and benefits failed and then the operating budget of $1,238,423 passed on a voice vote.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Patricia Lally said when teachers at the school are not teaching, they use the time for planning plus giving personalized time to students when needed.
The only other article on the warrant asked voters to discontinue the School Transportation Capital Reserve Fund created in 1983. It now contains $94,000. The Croydon School District currently leases bus service from Butler Bus Company of White River Jct.
The vote to retain the Transportation Capital Reserve Fund was supported by a show of hands, 32-15.
In the election on Tuesday, March 13, Thomas Moore captured a three-year term on the school board with 69 votes, defeating incumbent Jim Peschke with 65 votes. Deb Gardner had 2 votes.
Erica Brittner had 4 votes for school treasurer and 5 votes for school clerk, both one-year terms.
The operating budget included 3 percent pay raises for staff members excluding SAU administration.
