Humane Society 5k event set for Newport on June 23

CLAREMONT — The Sullivan County Humane Society will hold its 5th Annual 5k run/walk race at the historic Corbin Covered Bridge in Newport at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, to benefit homeless animals and spay/neuter clinics.

Online registration is now open at https://pinnaclestrive.com/index.php?n=schs_save_a_stray_5k. Pre-registration fee is $20 and the first 100 paid registrants will receive a free event T-shirt. Kids under 12 are free.

There are prizes for the top male/female finisher in all age categories, and all participants are eligible for great raffle prizes. There will be a post-race BBQ and plenty of healthy food, all taking place at the beautifully historic Corbin Covered Bridge.

Both corporate and individual sponsorship are welcome. Visit http://sullivancountyhumanesociety.org or contact Laurie Waterman at (603) 381-0716 or [email protected]. If you love animals and are looking to run or walk a fun and scenic 5k, please support Sullivan County Humane Society’s 5th Annual Save a Stray 5k.

The Sullivan County Humane Society is committed to improving the quality of life for animals within the county and to putting an end to animal overpopulation, abandonment, and neglect.

Through responsible adoptions it will find homeless animals new forever homes. Through humane education it will teach responsible ownership. Through low cost spay/neuter programs aimed at both owned pets and free roaming cats, it will limit the number of litters born in our county and therefore decrease the numbers surrendered to the shelter. Through assistance to low-income families, it will help pets remain in their forever homes. To donate or to learn more about The Sullivan County Humane Society visit sullivancountyhumanesociety.org.
