Heroin sales near Claremont schools among indictments

BY TIMOTHY LAROCHE
NEWPORT — A North Haverhill man accused of selling heroin was one of five people indicted by grand jury in Sullivan County Superior Court this week.

Manuel Castro, 35, is charged with six counts of subsequent offenses of sale of heroin, several of which allegedly occurred in school zones. If convicted, each charge carries potential sentences of 15-30 years in New Hampshire State Prison and $200,000 fines.

According to court documents, Castro allegedly sold heroin to individuals cooperating with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Drug Task Force several times throughout December 2013 and January 2014. His criminal record includes convictions for possession of a controlled drug analog in September 2003, distribution of a controlled drug in May 2004 and conspiracy to distribute heroin in December 2007, all of which were from Hudson County Superior Court in New York.

Across six alleged drug deals that occurred within 1,000 feet of Stevens High School or New England Classical Academy, charging documents say Castro allegedly sold $1,120 of heroin.

A grand jury handed up several more indictments on Wednesday.

Robert Spadjinske, 27, of Charlestown is charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon after he allegedly fled from police in his Chevy Tracker. According to affidavits, Spadjinske was allegedly clocked at going 74 mph in a 35 mph zone while fleeing from police this month. He allegedly left his lane several times, driving towards oncoming traffic, before hitting a snowbank and fleeing on foot. Police eventually subdued Spadjinske by pulling him to the ground by his coat after attempts to use a Taser were unsuccessful.

Raymond Aubut, 55, of Cornish is charged with two counts of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon and two counts of reckless use of a deadly weapon during an alleged domestic dispute.

Jennifer Howe, 33, of Newport is charged with theft by unauthorized taking after she allegedly stole more than $1,000 of property from the New Hampshire Liquor Commission.

Emerson Cramer, 34, of Claremont is charged with aggravated felonious sexual assault against a juvenile younger than 13 years old.
