CLAREMONT — Richard L. “Dick” Limoges, 75, of Claremont, died peacefully Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, following a period of failing health. He was born March 27, 1942, in Claremont, the son of William and Irene (Lambert) Limoges and had been a lifetime resident. Richard co-owned Limoges Oil & Propane in Claremont, initially with his brother Donald and then later with his son Mark. One of Richard’s greatest joys of owning the company was helping out his customers, especially the elderly. Richard loved to get to know his customers and he would never turn down an opportunity to speak with them and hear how things were going and talk about their families. Richard was a former police commissioner, as well as a member of the Claremont Zoning Board. Richard was an active member in the community and was a member of many local civic organizations including the Knights of Columbus, Claremont Elks Lodge #879, Claremont Moose Lodge #1201 and the Kiwanis Club. Richard had many passions in life. He enjoyed wood working and the family benefited from his many projects. He was also a gentleman farmer for many years. Richard had a huge heart for all his animals and he kept his barn meticulously clean for the animals, which incited many good-natured jokes at Richard’s expense. He took great pleasure in sharing the fruits of his farming labor with his family. Richard’s true passion was spending time with his family. Richard adored his wife of 23 years, Colleen “Coco” (Smith) Limoges. Together they loved entertaining friends and family and their home was always the gathering place. Everyone who entered their home felt welcome and special.
Richard treasured his children and their spouses. He had three sons, Michael Limoges and his wife, Christine of Easthampton, Massachusetts, Mark Limoges and his wife, Tina of Claremont and Matthew Limoges and his wife, Lori of Springfield, Vermont; a daughter, Andrea Wilson and her husband, Jamie of Claremont; and a stepdaughter, Fawna Wilson of Claremont. Some of his favorite times were enjoying the company of his nine grandchildren. As often as he could, he would have them with him on the farm. The grandchildren knew Richard as Pepere and he had a very special place for each one of them in his heart They also thought the world of Pepere and he was often the person they turned to when having a problem because of the special relationship he had with them. From their very early ages Richard would teach them how to ride horses, clean the barn (while listening to Willie Nelson) and perform other farm chores including driving the farm tractors. Richard was Pepere to Tyler Limoges and his wife, Estee, Nicholas Limoges, Kayleigh Young and her husband, Christopher, Calvin Limoges and his wife, Danelle, Ryan Limoges, Natalie Wilson, Meghan Wilson and step grandchildren Raven Thibodeau and Jaden Wilson.
