GEORGES MILLS — Helen M. (Strack) Ruggles, 94, formerly of Prospect Hill Road, died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Cedar Hill in Windsor, Vt.
She was born in Lake Placid, N.Y., on Jan. 27, 1924 the daughter of Charles and Susie (Hinds) Strack.
Helen graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1942 and was married in 1945 moving to Georges Mills later that year.
She had worked for Russell’s Inn as a chambermaid and waitress and had also been employed by Gardner’s Store and the George Mills General Store since about 1968 retiring in 2006. She was a short order cook for the store and thoroughly enjoyed cooking for anyone and everyone.
Helen attended the Georges Mills Methodist Church and was a member of the Ladies Aid and had been the Sunshine Lady. She was always known to say, “Life Goes On.”
Her husband, Richard C. “Mickey” Ruggles, died in 1993 and was also predeceased by five siblings.
She is survived by three children and their spouses, Susan and Steven Livingston of South Windsor, Conn., Carolyn and Jake Jalbert of Jaffrey, N.H., and Daniel and Paula Ruggles of Sunapee, N.H.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Lauren Ruggles, Caren Ruggles, Thomas Ruggles, Megan and Josh Kivela and their children, Chloe (8), Brooke (7), Allie (5), Kristen and Rob DelPaines and their children, Max (4) and Abbey (2); nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Lake Sunapee United Methodist Church, Lower Main Street, Sunapee, N.H. Burial will be in Georges Mills Cemetery at a later date.
