CLAREMONT — The local shopping guide The Weekly Flea will soon have a new look and refreshed website to better serve readers and advertisers in New Hampshire and Vermont.

As of Thursday, April 5, the publication will be rebranded as The Valley Marketplace.

“We’re rebranding The Flea so that we can do a better job for our valued customers, and reach more potential customers,” said Frank Amato, associate publisher of The Eagle Times.

The Valley Marketplace will still be published by the Claremont-based Eagle Publishing Co. and owned by Sample News Group, which owns and operates more than 70 daily and weekly newspapers in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and throughout New England.

The only change will be to the name, Amato said.

The Valley Marketplace will continue to be a free, local shopping guide and resource distributed to racks each Thursday throughout the region.

The new Valley Marketplace  will serve a more well-rounded advertising base, according to the associate publisher. Advertising rates will be affordable, and classified ads will be free for any item selling for less than $100.

“Unlike national classifieds websites, it’s a wonderful opportunity for people to deal locally, and therefore be more safe in their shopping experience,” Amato said.

The new publication will keep the same format, which offers classifieds listings for services, real estate, home furnishings, apparel and accessories, children’s items, tools, antiques and collectibles, cars and motorcycles, and other items and features. The publication has been helping to bridge the connection between local buyers and sellers since 1993.

The Valley Marketplace will also have a full, active website that will go live on April 5, the same date that the first edition hits newsstands.
