Defiance – The Westminster Massacre to be presented in Weathersfield

WEATHERSFIELD-The year: 1775. Defiant settlers take over a courthouse! A New York sheriff’s posse forcefully tries to evict them! Shots ring out! Was it the first act of rebellion against the king of England or a protest against heavy-handed New York rule?

The Weathersfield Historical Society has invited award-winning author and Westminster resident, Jessie Haas, to give a talk on this seminal incident in the early history of what is now eastern Vermont. The talk will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Martin Memorial Hall, the Town Hall, on Route 5 in Ascutney, Vermont. The program is free and open to the public.
