CLAREMONT — Esther Claire Normandin, 90, formerly of Chase Street in Claremont died Monday afternoon, April 2, 2018, at the Sullivan County Nursing Home.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Claremont, born Sept. 29, 1927, the daughter of Arthur C. and Blanche (Lizotte) Cloutier.She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School.
Esther was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and was a member of Count Virgil H. Barber #892 Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She worked as a clerk at Stevens Drug Store while in high school and for a short time after and then she worked for eight years in bookkeeping at the Peoples National Bank.
She and her husband George A. Normandin married Sept. 6, 1951 and he died last year Jan. 31, 2017.
The family includes two sons, Corey Alan Normandin of Scottsdale, Arizona and Kurt Normandin of Claremont; one granddaughter, Desiree Krebs of Massachusetts; two great-grandchildren; also, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by six brothers, Elmo Cloutier, Norman Cloutier, Marcel Cloutier, Robert Cloutier, Harold Cloutier and Richard Cloutier; five sisters, Yetive Nichols, Irene Wallace, Mae Lambert, Corrine Beaudoin and Lorraine Young.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 6, at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad St., in Claremont.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at St. Joseph Church.
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at The West Claremont Burying Ground.
The family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice.
