Route 12 rehab work begins April 23

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces construction work is scheduled to begin Monday, April 23 on the reconstruction and widening of three miles of NH Route 12, from the intersection of Main Street in North Walpole to the intersection of NH Route 12A in Charlestown.

The work includes reconstruction of Route 12 to widen the roadway towards the Connecticut River, which will provide 11-foot lanes and four to five-foot wide shoulders. The widened roadway will be the result of an armored slope along the Connecticut River, updated drainage and storm water management, substantial utility relocation and guardrail installation.

Intermittent alternating one-way traffic will be in place during this project.  Motorists can expect delays due to lane shifts and construction equipment.  Message boards and signs will be used to alert motorists of current conditions.

Sargent Corporation of Stillwater, Maine is the contractor for the $14.8 million project, which has a final completion date of Aug. 28, 2020.
