Sometimes the weather just doesn’t know what it wants to do. As the melting process continues, it still seems like we’re not in Spring yet, even though the calendar says differently.
During the evening hours on Tuesday there was a dusting of snow that stood out on the grass. And a night later there was a howling wind with gusts in the 35-40 mph zone. By Thursday morning the wind was gone and later in the day the sun broke through the clouds.
And on Tuesday and Wednesday we didn’t exactly escape the rain. Ski areas are still in operation, however.
A little bit of everything fell on Friday including rain and 1.7 inches of heavy, sticky snow in Claremont that covered grassy areas while leaving roads wet. Mount Sunapee Resort extended its ski season to one more week, certainly good news for skiers. Most of the new snow melted away on Saturday once the sun came out.
Overnight on Sunday, April 8, another dusting of snow fell over the area, giving lawns that winter look once again, if just for a few hours until the sun took care of the melting process on Monday morning.
