CLAREMONT — Longtime-Claremont resident Carolyn Towle was named the latest recipient of the Claremont Good Scout Award on Wednesday, joining a list of former recipients that reads like a who’s-who of service to the city.
While Towle currently serves on the Claremont School Board, her resume includes a laundry list of public service opportunities, including a recent stint on the Claremont City Council. She has also served on the Zoning Board of Adjustment, the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Amtrak Ad Hoc Committee. But it was Towle’s 30 years of involvement in Sullivan Count 4-H that led to her award, presented by the Boy Scouts of America Daniel Webster Council.
“I worked with 4-H children for a long time, and I’ve had an awful lot of joy helping them along in the horsemanship program,” Towle said.
Towle can now tout her inclusion to a list of award recipients that includes Mayor Charlene Lovett, former City Manager Guy Santagate and North Country Smokehouse Owner Mike Satzow, to name just a few.
“I don’t really know what to say at this point – it’s really surreal to be honored like this,” Towle said. “If everyone could just pay it forward to the next person beside them, it would be a much better world.”
