REGION— Main Street Arts in Saxtons River is offering an Acting Workshop with David Stern for beginners to professionals and every aspiring thespian in between.
The workshop will meet from 1 to 4 p.m on Saturday, Apr. 28. and from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 24.
The class will explore what underlies believable acting and how the actor can get there, as well as what happens in the mind and body of the performer at work and how to best reveal a rich, complex character portrayal. Some attention will be given to blocking and specific action choice and actor focus, and risk and release.
Stern says that, although it sounds technical and advanced, it is not, and the class will be fun and challenging as participants work in pairs on short scenes.
MSA’s artistic director, Stern most recently directed the community arts center’s highly acclaimed production ofJesus Christ Superstarat the Bellows Falls Opera House. He has more than 30 years of professional theater experience and has worked as a director throughout the Northeast, including at The Merrimack Repertory Theatre, New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, North Country Center for the Arts, The Weston Playhouse and the New Ensemble Theatre, which he founded.
The fee for the workshop is $60. Registration and further information are available by contacting MSA at (802) 869-2960 [email protected] on line at mainstreetarts.org
