Jennie A. Partlow

CLAREMONT — Jennie A. Partlow, 93, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 6, 1924, in Rawsonville, Vermont to the late Armetas and Gladys (Johnson) Kingsbury.

Jennie had lived in Newport most of her life, working at Encore Shoe, International Shoe Company, Brampton Woolen and Saddle River Furniture. She was married to Roland Partlow Sr. for many years before his death in 1976.

Jennie was the rock of her large family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren. She was a lovable lady who enjoyed giving hugs to people. She liked to play bingo and go dancing. Family cookouts and other gatherings were her favorite. She collected porcelain dolls and other knickknacks. She was an animal lover, especially her bird, Petey. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. She would always say, “I love all my kids.”

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Roland; longtime companion Freddie Johnson; son Davis Partlow; daughter Donna Carter; brothers Armetas and Paul Partlow, Lawrence, Harold, Edmund and Melvin Kingsbury; sister Blanche Pierce; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Partlow.

Surviving family includes sons Roland Parlow Jr. of Newport, Jack Partlow of Sunapee and his girlfriend, Lisa, and Michael Bowman of North Carolina and his wife Sandra; daughters Barbara Blake of Claremont, and Lola Rogers of Claremont and her husband, Jeff; brother Lyle Kingsbury; brother-in-law Edson Pierce; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jennie’s name may be made to the funeral home to help the family with funeral expenses.

Friends may call on the family on Saturday, April 21, from 1 to 2 p.m. with a funeral service at 2 p.m. at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., in Newport. Burial will immediately follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
