NEWPORT — Newport Middle School, High School and Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center are inviting the community to come roar with them.
All three schools will join together to hold a Spring Expo from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3.
“This is a great way for us to get to know not only current students families, but those families who may be transitioning into our district next school year,” said Newport Middle and High Schools principal, Shannon Martin. “We plan to show them the wide range of school and community resources we have to offer.”
Not only will faculty and staff have tables set up demonstrating what they do, but there will be examples of student work and talents. In addition there will be fun activities, prizes, tasty treats and demonstrations. Attendees who visit the many booths will be entered into a raffle in which a Chromebook is offered as one of the prizes.
“We very much want this not only to be an informative night for families, but also one that is fun,” Martin said. “There will be plenty of activities that will keep the entire family engaged.”
In addition to what is offered educationally, many local organizations are scheduled to participate. Included among those local groups are Granite State Independent Living, Newport Food Pantry, Pathways of the River Valley, Road to Independence, and West Central Behavioral Health Services, just to name a few that are scheduled to participate.
“This is a great opportunity for families to access the many services our area provides,” Martin said. “Pairing educational opportunities with community services allows families to get a lot of information in one place.”
Martin is grateful for the efforts of the faculty and staff at Newport Middle and High Schools and the SRVRTC.
“It is quite a collaborative effort among the staff and faculty to make this event happen,” Martin said. “They’ve gone above and beyond to make sure that it is going to be a success.”
