Local teens are invited to attend Prom Out Loud

CLAREMONT — Area teens, ages 13-20, are invited to join Rural Outright as it head to Prom Out Loud 6.

The prom will be held fro 7-11 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, at the Puritan Conference Center at 245 Hooksett Road, Manchester. Rural Outright, a program of TLC Family Resource Center, will be providing transportation to and from the event.

Safe, inclusive proms offer a place where New Hampshire lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning (LGBTQ) youth and their allies are free to be themselves without judgment.

The theme this year is “United by Love.” Once again, Lady Sabrina will be hosting the event and music will be provided by DJ Brady Ireland. Our entertainers will crown a Royal Court.

Come alone or with a partner. Formal dress is optional. Hors d’oeuvres from The Puritan will be served. This is a chemical-free event and no outside food or drinks will be permitted. All bags will be checked at the door. Coat and bag check will be available. The dance will be chaperoned by volunteers from GLSEN NH. All chaperones have undergone background checks and training.

Rural Outright will be providing transportation for the event for the third year.

“Supporting LGBTQ teens with transportation to events such as Prom Out Loud allows them to participate in activities where they feel safe and included. It is a fun night for everyone, including the chaperones.

Students from area schools who have gone with us the last two years have really enjoyed themselves,” said Rural Outright Program Coordinator Liza Draper. “Local donors make it possible for those who don’t have the funds to attend.”

Tickets for the event are $10. Tickets may also be purchased at the door, but space is limited. Advanced ticket purchase is recommended. Scholarships are available to youth unable to afford the ticket price through GLSEN NH and Rural Outright. They can be purchase online at https://donate-newhampshire.glsen.org/page/contribute/prom-outloud-2018-ticket-sales.
