Volunteer gardeners wanted

NEW LONDON — The call is out for a few volunteers to help maintain the restored historical garden located on the grounds of Tracy Memorial in New London.

Volunteers from the New London Garden Club and the community meet every Monday from 9 a.m. to noon from mid-April to early November under the guidance of a professional gardener.

“We go as often as we can, We work hard, but we have fun,” a spokesperson said. There is a special camaraderie among gardening volunteers, and there is something for everyone. There is always someone to answer questions and give guidance to the volunteers.

A Volunteer Welcome meeting and Coffee will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 23, in the Meeting Room at Tracy Library. Following coffee and the meeting, volunteers will start the spring cleanup in the garden. Dress accordingly and bring garden gloves.

The garden was designed by Olmsted Brothers Landscape Architects.
