CAVENDISH, Vt. — Police are seeking the help of the public to identify the driver of a vehicle that left the scene of an accident on Saturday.
The Vermont State Police-Westminster Barracks received a call at approximately 2:16 p.m. Saturday, April 21 of a motor vehicle crash on Route 131 by the Cavendish Fire Department in the town of Cavendish.
Gordon Murray, 71, of Springfield was the operator of the first vehicle. Murray reported he was traveling east on Route 131 in his 2018 Toyota Camry when a second vehicle, a white pickup truck, attempted to pass his vehicle. While the white pickup truck was attempting to get back into the east-bound lane, the truck collided with Murray’s vehicle. Conditions were clear and dry, and Murray was wearing his seatbelt, all according to police.
No injuries were reported. However, Murray’s driver side front wheel was damaged, as well as his driver side front bumper, police said.
The operator allegedly failed to stop, and left the scene, all according to Vermont State Police. The white pickup truck had New Hampshire registration. The identity of the driver was unknown as of the accident date, and the pickup may have had damage to the rear passenger wheel and back bumper.
Anyone who observed this crash or has information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Joshua Gagnon at the VSP Westminster barracks at (802) 722-4600.
