BELLOWS FALLS — Following at night of delicious appetizers, dinner, jokes and a live auction, Doreen Stoodley, Executive Director of GFRCC announced Alice Perry, RN as GFRCC Person of the Year. Alice Perry was nominated by Judy Holberg and Dr. John Leppman. In 1954 Alice was valedictorian of her nursing class at Eliot Community Hospital in Keene, NH. She was head nurse of pediatrics at Rockingham Memorial Hospital (RMH) in 1954 and by January 1955, she became medical head nurse.
In 1990 when RMH became part of Springfield Hospital, Alice became the urgent care manager and today holds the same position.
“Alice holds many community and civic memberships. She was Windham County Unit president of the American Cancer Society in 1970; chairperson for the Windham County American Red Cross for 25 years and Volunteer of the Years in 1989; Nurse of the Year nominee in 1992. She has been Bellows Falls’ chairperson of daffodils since 1990.
“Alice has been a member and participant in the Relay for Life, Vermont Organization of Nurse Leaders and Employee of the Year at RMH. She received the annual Award for Public Service from the Saxtons River Pamona Grange; was an active member of The United Church of Bellows Falls, and was an associate member of the Bellows Falls Women’s Club,” wrote JudyHolberg.
Alice’s priorities have always been the quality of care that she gives to her patients and the up-to-date medical knowledge, which underlies that care. “One would look far and wide to find anyone who can combine so many decades of experience with so contemporary a knowledge of good practice,” wrote Dr. John Leppman
Other nominees:
J. Barton (Tony) Elliott was nominated by Katherine Brown. Tony was nominated for his tireless efforts as a leader in the GFRCC communities as well as his involvement in community affairs, non-profits, governmental affairs, and the private sector.
Michael Hindes nominated by Gaetano Putignano. Michael Began serving the Rockingham community in 1985 and has been selflessly serving the Rockingham Community for 33 years and continues to do so working for the Town of Rockingham Highway Department.
The Great Falls Regional Chamber of Commerce held their 2018 Annual Dinner and Person of the Year Award at the Loyal Order of Moose in Bellows Falls, VT last Thursday, April 19. The theme, Springtime in Vermont and dinner theme, Maple were displayed in the table settings and the auction baskets sponsored by the 10 table sponsors-Greater Falls Connections, Village Square Booksellers, Bellows Falls Middle School AIM Afterschool Program, Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation/Southern Vermont Economy Project, Great Falls Regional Chamber of Commerce, Bellows Falls Rotary Club, Halladay’s Harvest Barn, Vermont Country Store, Town of Rockingham and Vermont Festivals. All tables were filled and around 90 people attended.
The live auction with Ray Massucco and Bill Stevens helped GFRCC raise over $1,200.00. The jokes were abundant and laughter rich during the enticing antics of the auctioneers.
