Steampunk Society of Vt offers scholarship to Springfield Steam students

Springfield— The Steampunk Society of Vermont, a Springfield, VT base non-profit organization, is offering a $1000 scholarship to a Springfield, VT graduate who will be studying one of the STEAM subjects post high-school graduation.

The Steampunk Society of Vermont, LTD serves the local community via organization of steampunk-themed events in order to increase tourism and encourage economic development in Springfield and the surrounding area. These events draw attention to the rich history of Springfield, VT, with an ultimate goal of making Springfield recognized as the VT Steampunk-Capital. The non-profit strives to unite the local community in this effort to revitalize Springfield via encouraging the melding of the town’s historical infrastructure with new businesses and developments with modern purpose and function.

After a successful 2017 Springfield VT Steampunk Festival, the non-profit is able to provide a scholarship to a local student. Scholarship applicants must be Springfield, VT students, graduating in the Spring of 2018, with plans to study one or more of the STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) post-graduation.

To receive scholarship funds applicants must be accepted into an institute of higher education (college, trade school, tech school, or STEAM related training program offering college credits) for the fall of 2018. Scholarship applications may be submitted prior to acceptance into a STEAM program, however acceptance into said program is required to receive funds. Applicants must submit a completed application on or before May 30.
