BELLOWS FALLS — Venise M. Sherette, 81, of Wells Street in Bellows Falls, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Venise was born June 21, 1936, in St. Guilloume, Canada, the daughter of William and Germaine (Theroux) Melancon. She worked as a store clerk for Woolworth’s in Claremont and JJ Newberry’s in Bellows Falls. Venise was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years and she enjoyed knitting and doing arts and crafts.
Surviving are her sons Roger Sherette of Bellows Falls and Michael Sherette of Chester, Vermont; her daughters, Joyce Ayer of Charlestown and Shelly Kmiec and husband John of Langdon; her brothers, Jim Melancon and wife Terry of Lebanon, New Hampshire; Laurier Melancon of St. Guilloume, Canada; her granddaughter, Michele Gosselin and husband Mark; and great-grandchildren Kristopher, Jonathan and Summer Sherette, and Keegan and Owen Gosselin. She was predeceased by her husband John “Hooker” Sherette in 2013 and her brother Roger Melancon in 2010.
There will be a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at St. Charles Cemetery in Westminster. Following the service, friends and family are invited to a gathering at the American Legion, Post #37. Arrangements are in the care of Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home.
