WINDSOR, Vt. — The Southern Windsor/Windham Counties Solid Waste District will offer backyard composting workshops again this year, at four locations in the region.
The workshops will take place at 6 p.m. on the following Thursdays: May 3 at the Whiting Library in Chester; May 31 at the First Congregational Church in Springfield; June 14 at the Reading Town Hall; and June 21 at the Rockingham Free Public Library.
Anyone who attends can purchase one “Soil Saver” backyard composter at the greatly discounted price of $35, with additional composters priced at $50.

The district, which includes Windsor, will also hold household hazardous waste collections on the following Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: May 12 at the Springfield Transfer Station; May 19 at the Weathersfield Transfer Station; Sept. 8 at the Springfield Transfer Station; and Sept. 15 at the Goodyear Building in Windsor.
