NATURE’S CLASSROOM YARD SALE

LAC SUNSHINE TOWN SOCIAL

Starts at 5 p.m., dinner and auction, come for a sensational evening, filled with Roaring Twenties-themed games, cocktails, and so much more, all to benefit the Newport Opera House and Library Arts Center, at the Newport Opera House, catered by Courthouse Restaurant and live music by Bill Rosen Quartet, reserve tickets in advance by May 7 by calling the box office at NOHA at 863-2412.

FROGTOWN MOUNTAIN PUPPETEERS

Doors open at 2:30 p.m., performance starts at 3 p.m. for ages 3 and up with accompanying adult at Claremont Savings Bank Community Center, 152 South St. Hand-crafted mouth and rod puppets tell the story of 8-year-old Lucy and her goofy pal Little Chucky They are searching for buried treasure but a gang of bumbling pirates keeps getting in the way. The kids get some help from their new friends including enthusiastic superhero Lobster Boy and his reluctant sidekick Crabby and an overgrown sea monkey. Will they find their buried treasure? Will the pirates foil their plans?

 

NEWPORT ROTARY PENNY SALE

Starts at 6:30 p.m. In the Newport Middle and High School gymnasium. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., 300 pries to win, $1,000 and $500 cash prizes, visit on website at www.newportnhrotarypennysale.info, major recipients of funds raised are the Newport Rotary Teachers Mini Grant Program and Newport Senior Center Restoration Fund.

 

CENTER FOR THE ARTS

Special youth arts event. Award-winning British storyteller and author Simon Brooks will enliven your ears and imagination with traditional tales of treasure, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Whipple Hall, New London, Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.

 

NEW LONDON CLEANUP DAY

South Newbury Union Church, South Newbury, Friendship House, Route 103, corner of Village Road and Sutton Road at the blinking light, 9-11 a.m., $12 per cat or dog, Newbury Town Clerk will be there to register your dog(s). DRAGONFLIES

Did you know an adult dragonfly can eat up to several hundred mosquitoes each day and they also eat black flies. New Hampshire Audubon Society Biologist Dr. Pam Hunt will speak on dragonflies at the Washington Historical Society meeting at Camp Morgan Lodge on Millen Pond Road. There will be a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. followed by the business meeting and the program on dragonflies will begin at 7 p.m. Come to the entire evening or come just to the program. All are welcome.

250thCelebration, Springfield, N.H., 1769-2019, a series of three concerts during 2018 featuring some of its own talented Springfield residents, classical guitar featuring Springfield resident Gary Robinson who plays guitar with a flair, his program will include works of JS Bach, Fransisco Tarregrla, Albeniz, Granados, Abloniz, Jobim and Villa-lobos to name a few. RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE

Spring is coming and what a great way to celebrate our yards and gardens coming back to life by helping to save up to three lives by donating a pint of blood. The next Red Cross blood drive hosted by the Sunapee Fire Department at the Safety Services Building will be held from 1-6:30 p.m. This will be a full scale blood drive in the apparatus bay of the fire station. AUSBON SARGENT WORKSHOP

Here is an opportunity to get outside and see some beautiful Ausbon Sargent properties in our 12 town region, while volunteering at the same time. Come learn how to be a monitor at this annual workshop from 2-6 p.m.. All materials provided.
