Springfield chamber thanks community for successful Green Up Day

Caitlin Christiana
Executive Director of Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce
The weather cooperated beautifully for this year’s Green Up Day, and the 48th annual event was a great success! The Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce was joined May 5 by more than 100 community members helping to Green Up Springfield and surrounding areas.

In addition to the people who came out that day, bags were provided to another 70 volunteers during the week leading up to the event, for a total of more than 170 local participants. The chamber distributed more than 300 bags for trash pickup.

A big thank-you to Springfield Rotary Club, HCRS, HB Energy Solutions, Kelley Sales & Service, Mascoma Savings Bank, State Farm Insurance, Springfield Garden Club, student volunteers from Springfield High School and many more!

Community volunteers and the chamber spent the sunny morning spreading mulch and raking the grass in front of Peoples Bank. We’d like to express our gratitude to VTEL for sponsoring the event, and we appreciate Woodbury Florist for delivering the mulch. Following hours of hard work picking up trash, volunteers enjoyed a Thank You Cookout with delicious hot dogs donated by Jake’s South Street Market. Shout out to One Credit Union for the use of their grill, and to Trout River Brewery for letting us borrow a cooler. Thank you to Town of Springfield employees for picking up all the bags.

Our business partners and community members made this a day to remember. Join us next year and help us reach our goal of 200 participants!
