CLAREMONT — Claremont will come alive on Saturday, June 9, wehen the Stevens High School Alum,ni Day parade makes its way along the Downtown streets.
The parade, with a theme of Broadway, will start at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed immediately by the annuial Business Meeting/Luncheon at the Stevens High School Cafeteria
The evening banqiuet in the Frederick W. Carr Gymnasium at the high dchool well be catered by Country Kitchen Catering Service. The menu will be baked stuffed boneless chicken with cheesecake and sliced straewberries for dessert.
The banquet will start at 6:30 p.m. sharp at a cost of $22 per person.
Stevens Alumni Association Parade Line-up is in the works!
The parade will start at Stevens High School, south on Broad Street to the Middle School, west on South Street to West Pleasant Street, north to Pleasant Street to Opera House Square, right onto Broad Street and back to Stevens High School.
Officers for 2017-18 are Douglas R. LeBlanc, ’63, president; Richard Girard, ’61, 1st vice president; Mary Picknell Woodman, ’61, 2nd vice president; Sonya LeBlanc Lawson, ’89, secretary; Beverly Hanks Janelle, ’53, assistant secretary, and Carolyn Bowles LeBlanc, ’62, treasurer.
Returning marching units this year include, Yankee Doodle Legion Band from Rensselaer, N.Y., the Colchester Continental Fife and Drum, the Boston Windjammers, Firehouse 6 Dixieland Band, Stevens High School Band, Claremont Middle School Band.
For the first time this year “The Summertime Marching Band” down from the North Country will join us along with the NHPA Pipes and Drums Band (New Hampshire Police Association Pipes and Drums). Also new this year is St. Andrews Pipe Band of Vermont.
Other groups include The Vermont Civil War Hemlocks, Bektash Temple Legion of Honor, Bektash Mini Kar Patrol, Cairo Mini Monsters, Sinai Joe’s Clowns, the ever popular Leapin Lena and Bob Ayotte and his Bob, Tommy, and Friends train. Cheryl the Clown will be along the parade route entertaining the kids with her balloon art.
Pat, the New England Patriots Mascot and two of the New England Patriots cheerleaders are fast becoming a class act entertaining young and old alike all along the parade route, stopping to have pictures taken and signing autographs. They are crowd pleasers for sure.
Milo the New Hampsdhire Motor Speedway mascot will be here and two of the NHMS trams.
Bruce Streeter from Orford, is back again with his white Vis-A-Vis carriage and elegant team of horses for the alumni officers to ride in, so much fun.
Jim Fitch from Cornish, will be here with his beautiful horse drawn wagon and will be available for alumni members to ride in so hop aboard and enjoy the ride. As Bev Janelle always says, “If you are going to ride in the parade keep smiling and keep waving”
Floats registered so far are 1953, 1963, 1968,1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, and the graduating class of 2018.

he parade marshals, chosen by the 25-year class, are Jimmy and Brenda Baker.
The Viewing stand will be in front of the Pleasant Restaurant with Steve Smith of WCNL the Emcee. Seating on viewing stand available for Honorary Members.
