Windsor Rotary Club recognizes student ‘Champions’

WINDSOR, Vt. — The Windsor Rotary Club hosted a luncheon on Wednesday, May 10 to recognize athletic and scholastic state championships earned by Windsor High School students.

The following teams were recognized: Science Fair (2017 state champions); Math Team – state champions (2018); Quiz Bowl – various honors; STEM Fair – various honors; 3-D Printing Team state champions (2018); Varsity baseball state champions (spring of 2017 state champions); Varsity girls basketball state champions (2018), Varsity Boys Basketball state champions (2018); and Varsity Football state champions (2016 and 2017).

Rotary District Governor and Windsor Rotary Club member Jon Springer said that the broad base of accomplishments exemplifies the Windsor School Systems commitment to excellence in all disciplines as well as the importance of working together to achieve common goals.

While some activities have long and storied histories of high achievement other programs are relatively new, such as 3-D printing and STEM. New or old, each program has common components of dedicated staff, committed students and shared vision, according to a Rotary press release.

The Windsor Rotary Club said they appreciate the efforts of the students and staff of Windsor High School and look forward to a continued strong relationship in the community.

Windsor Rotary Club is the local club for Rotary International. The club meets each Monday at noon United Methodist Church, 165 Main St. Windsor.
