CLAREMONT– The rumblers and the grumblers, the ground-pounders, the 600-plus-horsepower mighty Modifieds are coming to town Saturday, May 26th.
Saturday racing under the lights, $6,000 to the winner and no less than a cool grand guaranteed to each of the 27 starters, the Tri-Track Open Modified Series is coming to Claremont Speedway this week, and it will be one of the top events ever held at the Thrasher Road speedplant.
No fewer than 38 Modified teams from throughout the Northeast have pre-registered for a chance to qualify for the starting grid of the 100-lap main event, and Saturday night’s roster will include a virtual who’s-who of open-wheel racers.
Modified powerhouses Ryan Preece, Matt Hirschman and Jon McKennedy will be coming north to bid for starting spots in Saturday’s big-dollar show, hoping to out-duel a long list of proven speedway main event winners that will include Kirk Alexander, Russ Hersey, Todd Patnode and Les Hinckley, who, in turn, will be challenging a bevy of hometown stars such as 2017 track Modified champ Dana Smith, Charlestown hot shoe Brian Robie, and Cornish comet Bucky Demers.
The speedway’s three weekly racing series divisions, Super Streets, Street Stocks, and Wild Cats will all be in action, too. Post time for Saturday night’s very special Claremont Speedway event is 6 p.m.
In the event of rain, the entire Memorial Day weekend card of racing will be held the following day, Sunday, May 27th. Due to the preparations for this event, there will be no Friday night racing May 25th at the speedway.
