Well, it’s almost planting time. Some homeowners have already started putting seeds in their backyard gardens while others are waiting until the end of the month to put in plants such as tomatoes and peppers.
The past week was pretty steady weatherwise until things turned bad on Saturday, May 19. It rained off and on starting around 1 p.m. That rain picked a bad day to show up, at least in Newport with the Newport High School Prom on tap in the evening. Prom-goers sported umbrellas in an attempt to keep dry.
As of Sunday, May 20, there were some very promising weather days coming up for the remainder of the current week.
