SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — The nonprofit Springfield Farmers’ Market will be opening for their ninth season from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 2 on Lower Clinton St. (Route 11) near the trailhead of the Toonerville Walk / Bike Path. There is plenty of room for parking at this location.
Vendors will have a wide range of products to offer visitors. Lois Warren of Eden East will have a large assortment of handmade jewelry and bands to go on hats. Roger Hammond will have his school-bus-yellow food cart offering breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs and corn on the cob as well as other food items. Jody, Steve and Tanner Gintof of Winter View Farm will have grass fed beef, honey, and maple syrup as well as decorative bee’s wax candles. Mandy and Larry Traineanu of Aroma Catering will have a diverse selection of prepared European and Mediterranean foods. Sue, Bob and Jim Fog of Brier Patch Farm will offer a large assortment of produce as well as preserves, maple syrup and artisan breads. Doug and Diane Moulton will have eggs from free range hens, roasting chickens, doughnuts, an assortment of pies, large cookies, and other baked goods, blueberries in season as well as handcrafted items.
Penni Thomas of Hawks Meadow Farm carries a large assortment of pickles and relishes, maple syrup and produce. Ann Perreault is an author of adult and juvenile Christian books. Becca White of Sun Common will share information about their solar products.
A new vendor with the market this year is Ben Hills of Flying Crow Coffee Company with fresh roasted coffee.
The Springfield Farmers’ Market still has room for qualified vendors. The market also welcomes local businesses and nonprofit groups to apply for a space to promote their business or demonstrate a product, and they can register for a date of their choice. Applications can be printed from the website.
The market will be having its second annual Family Day on Aug. 18 with activities for adults and children, and organizers hope to have other activities through out the summer.
The musician for opening day will be accordion player Walter Gomaz. The weather looks good for the day, so all are welcome to come to the market, meet and get to know the vendors, get some lunch and set awhile and tap toes or dance to Walter’s music.
